Western Norway Film Commission hosted a spectacular location tour in early May, just days before the spring blossoming. The tour encompassed fjord, mountain, village and glacier locations in the areas of Sunnfjord, Nordfjord, Sunnmøre and Romsdal, making the most out of the 48 hours available for the scout.
Director Jörg Günler and his team from Studio Hamburg and Norwegian production service company Frost Media, have begun shooting on the ARD drama Unter die Eis, based on a screenplay by Silke Zertz. The filming takes place in the majestic and fascinating landscape of Sunnmøre and the municipalities of Norddal, Valldal, Geiranger and Ålesund. Filming is expected to be completed June 11th.
In the village of Øye by the Norangsfjord lies one of Europe's most distinctive hotels. For generations it has been a favourite venue of European royalty, famous writers and mountaineers. Kaiser Wilhelm, King Oscar, Queen Maud and Princess Victoria; the authors Karen Blixen, Knut Hamsun and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle; the composer Edvard Grieg, playwright Henrik Ibsen and the explorer Roald Amundsen, to mention but a few.
