Bergen has shown off its most wintry self to welcome director Tomas Alfredson (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Let The Right One In) and the cast and crew of The Snowman. Coming to cinemas worldwide in October 2017, the adaptation of Jo Nesbø's best selling crime novel is shooting on location in Bergen, its surrounding mountains and archipelago, as well as in Oslo and the area of Rjukan.
A release date of October 13, 2017, has been set for Universal Pictures' and Working Title Films' highly anticipated The Snowman.
The Snowman is based on Jo Nesbø's global best-seller, and stars Golden Globe nominee Michael Fassbender (X-Men, Steve Jobs), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation) and Charlotte Gainsbourg (Independence Day: Resurgence, Antichrist, Nymphomaniac).
The thriller, helmed by Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), will begin principal photography on January 18th, and will shoot on location in Bergen (pictured above), Oslo and the area of Rjukan.
Fassbender plays an elite crime squad’s lead detective who investigates the disappearance of a victim on the first snow of winter, and fears an elusive serial killer may be active again. He teams with a brilliant recruit (Rebecca Ferguson) to connect decades-old cold cases to the brutal new one.
The Snowman is produced by Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, Robyn Slovo (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), and Piodor Gustafsson (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) for Another Park Film. Executive producers are Jo Nesbø, Niclas Salomonsson, Martin Scorsese, Tomas Alfredson, Liza Chasin and Amelia Granger.
