Western Norway attends Beijing Film Market

Western Norway Film Commission will attend the 4th Beijing Film Market, and present the filming opportunities in the region to Chinese producers. The Film Market takes place April 17th - 19th at the China Millennium Monument during the 4th Beijing International Film Festival. In 2013 the 3rd Beijing Film Market attracted more than 4000 Chinese and international professionals, and over 800 film and television organizations. 27 project contracts were signed with a total signing amount of over CNY 8.731 billion. The Project Pitches program selected and promoted 10 projects with commercial potential, and the 3rd BJIFF also attracted attention from over 1000 major media outles and web sites from over 30 countries.

In 2013 the Chinese box office grew with 27% to $3.6 billion, and China now produces close to 800 feature films a year (up from 100 films a year at the beginning of the millennium). Recent hits such as Lost in Thailand shows an increasing interest in international locales. Western Norway Film Commission is very excited to attend this expanding market. The BJIFF is hosted by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) and the People's Goverment of Beijing Municipality, and organized by the SAPPRFT FIlm Bureau and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television.
