Starring Anders Baasmo Christiansen and Blind's Ellen Dorrit Petersen, Dark Woods 2 promises more eerie chills and enigmatic thrills from one of Norway's leading horror directors.
Director Pål Øie has begun filming on the Dark Woods sequel in Hungary as well as in Harastølen in Luster municipality in Sogn & Fjordane. The sequel is produced by Handmade Films in Norwegian Woods, with MadMonkey's producer Einar Loftesnes and Yesbox Production's Bendik Heggen Strønstad as a co-producer. The script is penned by Pål Øie and Kjersti Rasmussen, and the camera is cranked by long-time Øie-collaborator Sjur Aarthun.
Øie has a strong sense of the dark side of human nature, and conveys disturbed emotions and ambiances. He made his feature debut with Dark Woods in 2003. The film was a low-budget production, but became a sleeper-hit clocking in at 153 000 domestic admissions, and was discovered by a big international audience. Dark Woods was later voted Norway's scariest movie ever.
