Liebe am Fjord

Studio Hamburg Shooting Liebe am Fjord for ARD / Degeto

The village of Kalvåg has a unique collection of old waterfront buildings, reputed to be the largest and best-kept waterfront environment in the county. Many of the old wharf buildings have been restored and converted to provide accommodation.

The peaceful village is now the buzzling location for ARD / Degeto's new 90 minute tv movie cycle, Liebe am Fjord. Shot in lush, gorgeous landscapes, the movies introduce viewers to the charming world of life by the fjord.

Studio Hamburg has brought a great team of German crew under the management of Hartmut Damberg. The movies are based on scripts by the Icelandic Maria Solrun Sigurdardottir and German Jörg Tensing. Liebe am Fjord is directed by Matthias Tiefenbacher, shot by camera man Klaus Merkel and designed by Matthias Klemme. Joining the German crew are local film workers Eirik Vaage from Frost Media and Svein Arild Vatsø from Firework Film.

First out in the movie cycle is Gesang des Windes, with main cast Jan Gregor Kemp, Jutta Speidel and Emil Reinke, and Sommersturm, with main cast Martin Feifel, Harald Schrott and Susanna Simon.

In Gesang des Windes we meet Hanne and Kaare Eliassen, celebrating their silver marriage. During the celebration their son Daniel has a serious break down, and is taken into the hospital where they find out that his kidneys are without any function and he needs a kidney-donation urgently. This leads to a series of events in search of what makes a marriage last, and what keeps a family together. In Sommersturm we meet Rune and Karen, who recently have inherited a farm in Western Norway. Without a farming background, the childhood lovers meet a series of obstacles on their quests for a happy life.
