Arthaus - the art film foundation was established August 19th 1992 by the Norwegian Federation of Film Societies. The purpose of the foundation is to improve the conditions for artistically valuable films in Norway, among other things by importing and distributing films for screening in cinemas and film societies, and by spreading knowledge and information about film as an artistic and cultural medium. The foundation is non-commercial.

SF Norge was established in 1989. Together with Svensk Filmindustri in the other Scandinavian countries, SF Norge i part of Bonnier Media Group, the leading media conglomerate in Scandinavia. SF Norge is the biggest film distributor in Norway, handling the sale of films to retail and rental market in addition to distributing theatrical films to Norwegian cinemas.
